If Pep Guardiola, Liverpool celebrated against me, I would have ended up with a 10-match ban
It was always a great challenge to beat Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The end result was not a huge surprise to many fans given recent performances, but we started the away game very well for a change with Mohamed Salah scoring the first goal. Much was made of Erling Haaland's defeat before the match, but that changed little in the end as Julián Álvarez impressed. I think Jurgen was too brave to play both of them in midfield, which ultimately backfired as they continued to play one-on-one against Robertson and Trent while we pressured their defense to keep them from coming out.
City continued to gain ground in the second half and when they scored both goals early in the break it was the end of the game. One of the goals they scored was around 20 passes and not a single entryLiverpoolthe player entered. They walked in which almost shows where we are.
City spent billions of pounds as a club so we knew it was going to be a challenging competition. There's a reason they're where they are, that's what makes money. But for all his qualities, we made Jack Grealish look like Lionel Messi. He's certainly not close to that. It's not just quality that separates Messi and Grealish, only one of them doesn't fall to the ground when he's taken down. When you're that good, and for £100m you should be, you can ruin your reputation by constantly finding fault. I have to say that Gakpo should have been booked for that too, because that's not possible. We are better than that.

Liverpool striker stays hot but late drama thwarts win
Layton Stewart's run in front of goal wasn't enough to secure victory for Liverpool Under-21s, as they could only manage a 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in Premier League 2.
After a cautious first half at the academy, the visitors took the lead minutes after the restart when Andy Moran was well positioned to capitalize on a sketchy Liverpool defense and convert from close range.
However, the young Reds reacted strongly when Harvey Blair restored the equalizer shortly afterwards and converted a low cross from Ben Doak.

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Brighton
Cagey is the first 45 at the Academy with neither side being able to open the scoring. The guests had chances despite the dominance of possession of the ball by the young Reds. Doak had just switched to the left flank after a difficult pass from the right.

After a clever twist on the edge of the penalty area, McConnell shoots straight at Cahill. Liverpool's best chance at half-time, this.

Brilliant run from Blair, who beat a handful of Brighton defenders with some good footwork, but failed to get the finish he deserved. The best of Liverpool.

Díaz and Thiago are not available for Chelsea
Luis Díaz and Thiago Alcántara will not make their respective returns in tomorrow's Premier League game against Chelsea.
Both players have been sorely missed by the Reds, especially Diaz due to the long absence, although they are not ready to play yet.
Klopp offered updates on Diaz and Thiago this afternoon, saying: "As much as we want him [Diaz] back, we still have to give him time. Obviously it's been a long time since he first suffered an injury. Training in Dubai, it will be He was looking great until he got injured again, so we have to be careful, be patient. I wouldn't say (against) Arsenal are completely out of the picture, but it's pretty unlikely, but after that Luís will come back.
"We had Thiago back in normal team training yesterday (Sunday), which is also good, but he's not available tomorrow (against Chelsea) so let's see how he reacts."

Pep Guardiola escapes FA action to celebrate Manchester City's goal, but Liverpool risk fines
Pep Guardiola will not face retroactive action from the Football Association for his provocative behavior during Saturday's game between Manchester City and Liverpool.
The City manager celebrated wildly on the touchline after watching Julián Álvarez equalize for the hosts on 27 minutes and run towards the home fans while punching through the air. Guardiola then turned his attention to the Liverpool reserves, who were warming up, tackling Kostas Tsimikas first, followed by Arthur Melo.
Guardiola repeatedly urged the former to shake his hand while at the same time speaking lyrically about his team's goal, eventually getting his wish when Arthur complied with the request for a handshake. Both Reds backups appeared with smiles on their faces during the incident, though many praised Tsimikas for keeping his cool and walking away from the situation without provoking a strong reaction.

The Reds meet Potterless Chelsea
Graham Potter will not be on the touchline for tomorrow's match between Chelsea and Liverpool, as the former sacked their second manager of the season.
It's hard to gauge what impact this will have on the Reds, although Jurgen Klopp's side should simply mind their own business and pick up a much-needed three points.
